The Stanly County Historic Preservation Commission was established by the Stanly County Commissioners in 1973 to research, record, conserve, and interpret the history, culture, and architectural heritage of Stanly County, North Carolina.  The Commission operates a museum and maintains two of the three locally designated historic properties in Stanly County.  The Commission also maintains a list of sites that are architecturally, culturally, historic, or otherwise significant to the fabric of Stanly County's heritage.  www.stanlycountyhpc.com

 Stanly County Museum Minimize

The Stanly County Museum is operated by the Stanly County Historic Preservation Commission and is comprised of a modern visitor center and two historic homes; the early nineteenth century Freeman-Marks House and the 1852 I.W. Snuggs House.  All are centrally located on the museum complex in downtown Albemarle.  The Museum houses a Heritage Gallery, the Morrow Conference and Research Room, a gift shop,  staff offices, and restrooms.  There is no admission fee.

Tour groups are welcome!  The museum can accommodate up to 60 elementary or middle school students and up to 30 high school students at a time.  Large groups should allow 1 1/2 hours for your visit.  Themed and specialty tours are available for smaller groups. To ensure the best experience for your group, please make reservations at least three weeks in advance.

Tuesday through Friday: 10am to 5pm

Saturday: 10am to 4pm
